Strem offers a selection of 35+ pincer compounds

Pincer ligands and pincer compounds are a rapidly growing field in chemistry. A pincer complex is formed when a suitable tridentate ligand binds to a metal center so that all three coordination sites are arranged in an approximate planar geometry.  This leads to a meridional configuration which is different from a piano stool complex. The result is a synergistic binding effect which leads to highly stable complexes.  A vast number of pincer ligands have been described in literature and virtually any possible donor-atom has been employed in these compounds. Strem Chemicals offers a selection of over 35 pincer compounds from countless variations, some of which are listed below.

Milstein Ligands and Complexes

 Traditional Pincers

This is an array of more traditional pincers. A PNP ligand based on a pyridine center and PCP ligands based on aromatic as well as alkyl carbons for binding.

POP Ligands and Complexes

XantPhos type and related ligands are bidentate ligands with a wide bite angle. References to these ligands being used and described as pincer ligands can be found in literature. (Inorg. Chem. 2010, 49, 7244-7256). There is certainly some electron donating capability in the central oxygen atom, as the nitrogen atom in pyridines.  Strem offers three XantPhos type ligands, three DPE Phos type ligands and DBF-Phos, in addition to two palladium (II) complexes used in cross coupling reactions.
